A Recap of Our Native Plants Workshop with Zarah 🌾

By Isabella Falsetti

Sunday, June 25 was our native plants workshop with Zarah from Snəw̓eyəɬ Indigenous Cultural Consultants. She showed us how to identify both native and non-native plants in the community garden, as well as develop and action plan to encourage best practice for the future.

Workshop attendees were given a list of the native plants in the garden and tasked to identify species in three areas: the re-wilding bed, the food forest, and the woodland perimeter.

Together, attendees were able to consolidate a master list of the native species in the garden. This running list will help us keep track of what’s growing and prioritize the well-being of indigenous flora.
